How to care for vegan silk

Cupro (our vegan silk) is a fabric made from cotton waste that requires special care. You can wash it at home unless the label specifies green dry cleaning. As always, we recommend you do a water test on the fabric before washing.

To keep your cupro garments in great shape, we suggest using a very delicate soap, such as the Laundress stain solution or wash and stain bar.

If your garment is generally clean, we recommend using steam to freshen it up, along with cashmere spray to eliminate any odors. If the water test was good, you can wash the fabric with cold water by hand using the delicate Stain Solution, which is ideal for treating protein and tannin stains like wine, coffee, ink, and even old set-in stains like pit stains.

The Wash & Stain Bar works wonders to remove dirt, grease, oil, and makeup from cupro blends.

To remove odors, presoak the item for 30 minutes in cool water mixed with ¼ cup of scented vinegar.

As always, hang your cupro garments to dry, avoiding harsh soaps or machine washing. Steam or iron them carefully at a medium to low temperature to preserve their structure.

Lastly, if you prefer not to hand wash, you can always opt for green dry cleaning at a laundry service like Oxxo.
