Newsletter June: Rebirth After Grief

A very personal newsletter here.

My father passed away on January 31st after a long illness and a very difficult process of seeking to end his life in a humane way. It was hard. That's all I can say. It shattered me and left me picking up and putting together the pieces, leaving some unnecessary parts of myself behind and creating a totally new person. I honestly don't know how it's possible that this business continued to grow through days and days of pain.

But if there's something that can take you from the greatest pain to peace, it's creating. I took these months to create in clay, to paint my daughter's room, and to make pointless things that didn't need to be sold. And now I'm starting to feel like myself again, slowly.

As you may know, I create slowly—not only because it's more sustainable and intentional, but also because I'm a one-woman team. So this year, we are launching only two collections: one in the fall, and another featuring our pajamas in new colors. We are also introducing many handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces made in the atelier. Lastly, there are the clay pieces, which I'm still getting the hang of, as I work toward creating something that feels intentional and handmade.
